My dad's 4th gen update

Some of you guys might remember my thread about my dad and his new 4th gen:
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...threadid=14757

Anyhow I went back for Christmas and this greeted me:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...d/0619ae27.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...d/9186ed66.jpg

My sister was driving at the time and making a left turn at a signal. She had the green arrow and some dumb driver drove through her red and smacked into the runner :(

Last I heard the dumb broad was claiming to her insurance that it had just turned green :chair:

If it was me I don't think I'd be that heart-broken about it because it can easily be fixed and insurance would cover (though it'd be a bit annoying to deal with). What really ticks me off is that this is my dad's 1st and only NEW truck that he's ever bought for himself and some idiot not only hits him but lies about it too.

Sometimes I want to give up on people :pissed:

Sorry mods, I thought I'd resized enough. I'll try again.

EDIT:
Somewhat fixed.

hang in there, Peter. (makes me mad too though)

Sorry to see and hear that. It seems these days you need sliders and bumpers for parking lots and roads more than rocks, given Firsttoy's experience as well.

2 drunk bit%&es caused me to run off the road and hit a pole in my wifes brand new camry last summer, then i had to chase them down for about 7 mi's while on 911 before officers could catch up, then all just imagine they had no insurance, so it was her fault and she went to jail for dui and possesion of crack, but i had to pay for the deductible, the difference in the rental car (having to drive a f*&King kia for 2 weeks grrrrrr). so anyway i went to court and there suppose to pay me restitution (like that will ever happen) but even though it was not my fault at all, just in the wrong place at the wrong time, it still makes your insurance go for a no fault accident. Well thanks for letting me vent....I feel your pain or your dads......Just remember stupid people are breeding like rats so get used to it

Andries I tried a little searching and can't really seem to find what happened? Anything serious? And really no kidding about needing it for daily driving...

Rocky:
Thanks for the encouragement, I think I'll just give up on her ;)

dwh:
Yeah, where I work we see those people everyday. Just grin and bear it I guess
I think the part that bothers me the most is that it just isn't new again. Doesn't matter what they do now even if they get it to what it looked like before... it just isn't the same. Tainted, you know?

Peter,
that's almost exactly what happened to mine- except the slider stopped it from going into the rocker area. Looks like I got hit harder but less damage...

OK, if you're lucky its all just plastic (OEM paint colored plastic is available so a repaint isn't even needed).

sheetmetal underneath is bent at the running board mount ?(not a big deal $$ I hope..)

Is the rocker panel ok under the plastic? It doesn't look bad...

if you need info or a fantastic, honest body shop, PM me. Don't let the insurance run the "approved body shop" scam on you.

Tacoma Dude 01-13-2005 12:59 AM

Man I didn't have the heart to look at that thing...
I'll have to call my parents and see what kind of progress they've seen. I may take you up on that good body shop if it's not too far from the Torrance area.

Guys...Y'all need to be glad you (or your sis) were in a 4Runner when it happened. My wife has taken a construction ladder through the front end of the '95 on the freeway and lived to tell about it. If she was in the Corolla at the time....who knows...but it wouldn't have been as good. Second time she was rear-ended at a stop light. It just bent the bumper a little. 4Runners are pretty safe vehicles...Which is why we got rid of the Corolla and got a '99.

Cars can be fixed. Cars can be sold.
