Map light question
It not in my manual, and I can't find it anywhere else.
How do I get to the the map light bulbs in my 2007 4Runner??? I can't figure it out. I need to put in either a red bulb or red brake light tape on one of the lenses. I need a dim red light for some tasks. |

I need a dim red light for some tasks. Once you get the cap off, then the bulb is exposed. If its anything like the Tacoma, it's a bitch to pull out the bulb. I used a screwdriver and a set of tweasers to grip, wiggle and eventually pull the bulb base out. In theory, the 194/168 bulb should just pull down and out, but I had to work on mine a bit to get it to come loose. Again, gentle force is necessary unless you want to break the bulb. |
Thanks! I figured it out yesterday, I used a little Swiss Army knife blade. The bulb came free with a little push to the side. I also found a red 194 bulb and it works perfectly for my needs. One red maplight to preserve my night vision, and one regular for everything else.
