How do I get these (push?) connectors off?

Trying to take the EVAP cannister out of my 2007 4Runner to test for leaks and I can't figure out the "proper" way to take these off. I tried some prying, but didn't get far until I felt like I'd be breaking plastic to get these off. How do I take these off without wrecking them? Thanks in advance!

What you want to do is get in there with a small screw driver and pry up these clips while pulling on the fitting.
