How to Disable TPMS only on 1 tire?

Hello,

I see there are lots of threads about the TPMS but not directly about my issue. I have a 04 4runner and recently I got a flat and now my spare tire is on the car. The 5th tire that is flat obviously won't hold air so my TPMS light is always on. Does anyone know if there is a way to disable the TPMS on my flat tire so the light will go off? I don't plan on getting a new spare tire for a while because I am saving up for some larger tires.

THANKS!

No way to disable it. The sensor has to stay registered and it must be sending pressure and temp info to satisfy the ECU. Only way to fix is to fix the tire.

Only other thing I could think of is to remove the sensor from the flat tire and through it in a small tire/wheel like a lawn mower tire and air it up. You'd need to keep that tire in your truck until you get your new tire though. Shade tree fix...

id say to remove ALL the tmps sensors and sell em. tpms SUCKS! when i get a new car, if its got tpms, ill be removin the sensors

Leave the wheel at home so that when you go somewhere, the sensor is out of range of the truck.

Is the tire able to be plugged? I've plugged many tires with a better than 95% success rate. If it is, at least you would have a good spare.

Just so you know removing all the sensors or just leaving the flat tire at home will not turn your light off. It the vehicle cannot read all the sensors the light will continue to stay on.

Unsure about the Toyota's, but the Chevy's at work don't have a sensor on the spare. One of our trucks destroyed a tire, and we had to move the sensor to the spare (now on the truck) to put out the light.

No, I didn't know that removing the sensor from the truck wouldn't shut off the light. Thanks for mentioning that.

Yes, the spare has a sensor. I had my light come on and I put air in all 4 tires. The light stayed on. On a whim I put air in the spare. The light went off.

To disable the TPMS light, remove the bolts that hold the black plastic shroud below the glove box. Pull down and the clips will release exposing the TPMS module. You need to ground the pink wire with a solid black stripe, simple as that. This applies to 4runners only.
