First post and you are gonna hate me.... oil :-)

I tried the search and couldn't muster the patience to find an answer to my question so here it goes. Just bought a 2013 4X4 Tacoma with 107,000 miles. Have no idea of the history but looks and runs great. That being said, my question. The owners manual says to use 0W-20 oil. I have always been a fan of synthetic oil so wondering if any experts on the subject would chime in. Also should I use only Toyota oil filters or other recommendations? Thanks in advance!!!

Wow, 138 views and not a single opinion? Should I look for another section of the forum to get an answer to my question and if so where would that be?

I guess you should go with whatever your prejudices are. If you like synthetics, by all means use one.

I expect that Toyota filters are good as any.

As to oil viscosity, It depends on the temperatures where you live; personally, I would'nt use a 0W20 oil if there were to be any ambient temps above 30F.

That means NEVER , here in mostly sunny AZ. Maybe a 5W30 in the winter here in a tight lo mileage machine like yours.

Truth is, regular oil and filter changes at moderate intervals are the real deal.

If you change oil @ 4 or 5 thousand mile intervals, any common brand dino oil is more than sufficient.

I'm sure that there are plenty oil snobs that would say different.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

5-30 every 5K, use synth if you want. Dino if you want.
