WTB: Semi white-whale - '87 or 88 SR5 Xtra Cab 4x4
Ok I know this is the wrong section, but I don't have the requisite # of posts yet. I am looking for what some might perceive as a bit of a white whale:
'87 or '88 SR5 Xtra Cab 4x4 manual trans, open to colors, but top 3 would be black, charcoal, white or red. Prefer originality, even unrestored, with SR5 wheels and SR5 stripes if doable, also chrome package would be a plus but certainly not a deal breaker. Turbo falls in the chrome package territory.
I have owned 7 Toyota pickups of varying years so I am quite familiar. I would like this to be an occasional/go to the dump/tool around town/short road trip type vehicle.
And if you're wondering if I am Jerome Horowitz no...it's Curly's given name.

I owned one. I know the new owner and he may be looking to get rid of it in the near future. I was not aware that this combination was rare. It is a 1988 xtra cab, 4x4 blue. Chrome package (chrome bumpers, chrome steel wheels, door handles, trim) blue with SR5 stripes on the cab (bed has been repainted) no stripes there. they can be purchased online. It is 100% stock, aside from a new head unit. I replaced the bumper and hood before I sold it.
The only part of your specs that it does not satisfy is the transmission. It has the automatic with overdrive, and ETC. Runs great, 4 cyl with new engnbldr timing kit, steel chain guides. The truck is extremely clean, except for some bodywork on the bed.

Really appreciate the offering, this would definitely be on my radar but the automatic would be a deal breaker for me (probably the only one from what I described in my thread). I am really set on a 5 speed.

Hmm...how easy and what would be the cost? This is a job I would need to farm out as I am not that advanced mechanically...also do you have a ball park offering for the truck? thx.

idk how much the cost is for the swap. there is a ton of info on this site for that. And youd have to make me an offer and id give it to the new owner. PM me about financials if you're interested.

Ok...sorry but do not want to engage in tranny swap, otherwise decent looking rig...so others please chime in with what you've got! near stock, manual trans SR5 4x4 xcab in black, red, charcoal or white!!

I am in CT. Most examples are rusted out here, particularly the beds where salt and moisture wreak havoc. I would not travel anywhere for what I am looking for just because I know enough about them to figure what I am getting into. I will gladly have a vehicle shipped from anywhere in the lower 48 if its a nice, original-ish, SR5 5 speed 4x4 Xcab!!

I wish you well in your search.
I myself bought only one vehicle sight unseen in person(about 50 pictures) and it cost me several thousand to put it in driveable condition after spending $10,000 plus
So good luck you are much braver then me or maybe have lots more money.
