Wont Start after Timing chain replacement

Hey guys I just did a timing chain replacement and my truck wont start up. I set TDC by removing the dizzy cap and aligning it to #1 then looking at the timing marks and setting to 0 degrees. Is this TDC of Compression or could it have been exhaust? When setting the timing chain up I made sure the cam gear dowel thingy was at 12 o'clock and the bright link was at 11:45ish. The crank gear was dowel was at 6 o'clock with the bright link on the dot. When putting the chain on I did wiggle the crank back and fourth but put it back to TDC. I pulled the #1 cylinder plugs and cranked the engine until i felt air then I put the dizzy in with the rotor pointing at 11:30ish aka #1. My question is could i have bent valves? how do I fix it? When I feel pressure on the #1 spark plug how do I know if that is the compression stroke or exhaust stroke in terms of putting the dizzy in right or 180 degrees out. Also is there anything I shoud be looking for in terms of switches, connectors, grounds that I forgot I took of before doing the TC, I see two white connectors one on the left side and one on the right side of the engine bay but I think that might be for AC and PS or something. Thank you in advance and this forum has been a lot of help as I just picked up this truck 3 weeks ago.

The best way to check #1 TDC is to pull off the valve cover, and check that the #1 valves, with the crankshaft timing mark at 0°, are both loose. If not, turn the crank 1 complete turn, and then check the valves again. They should be loose at that point.
If you want, take a straw or other soft, flexible shaft of some sort, through the #1 spark plug hole. You can then adjust the crank to precisely the top of the pistons travel by watching the straw move up and down.

When you go to stab the distributor, start it into the hole, with the rotor pointing straight up, and the body where the bolt is about the center of it's travel. Make sure the crankshaft is set so #1 is at TDC as above. As you slide the distributor in, it should turn, all by itself, to about 1030, as it engages the gears. Turn the distributor body so the bolt that holds it is about the center of it's travel, and snug it down.
Make sure you check the air gap if the sensor inside the distributor before you put the cap on! Set if required.
Now, you can put the engine all back together, put the jumper into E1-T1, and it should start. Make sure the idle RPM is about 800 RPM. Set the timing, with a timing light, to 5° BTDC, by loosening the bolt, and turning the distributor back and forth until the timing mark is correct. Tighten the bolt down to the recommended torque. Stop the engine, and pull the jumper. Start it up, and check the timing is at about 12° BTDC, depending on temperature, altitude, and so forth. Double check the idle RPM has remained at 800. If not, set it down, or up, to 800.

Does that help at all?

Thanks you for your reply. I got it running I was a fool and put the dizzy in 180 degrees off. No I just got to get it timed and troubleshoot a ticking sounds coming from the back of the engine. I just adjusted the valves and it still ticks. I made sure the valve cover wasn't over tightened

These engines make those ticking sounds. It's just a fact of life. The sun rises in the east, sets in the west, gravity sucks, dogs chase cats, the old Toyota engines make ticking sounds. Just the way life is. I wouldn't worry about it.

Just me...
