Will these springs work for a ZUK mod?

http://winnipeg.kijiji.ca/c-cars-veh...AdIdZ266584234

I got the guy to email me measurements.

The height is 19" tall, the top ID is 5", and the bottom ID is 6".

Obviously I would have to cut them down to 14" or so. Would they be too wide? My runner isn't available for me to measure stuff at the moment.

Swimmerboy2112 03-28-2011 04:40 PM

If you gotta cut em forget it IMO. Chefyota4x4 got his for like $30 on Ebay.

ztweny8 03-28-2011 04:43 PM

I'm kind of thinking the same thing. Its just that these are local. By the way the listed price of $200 is not what I would pay lol, I told him $80. I guess with the CDN dollar being worth more than the USD it wouldn't be the worst time to order some.

Any other opinions?

They look too stiff....front of a Dodge confirms that. Why not look around for a front set of TJ coils...or a 99 Runner front?

ztweny8 03-28-2011 05:56 PM

Searched all over yesturday. Found a pair of used old man emu's from a jeep but they were sold. Ill keep looking but if not ebay it is. I was concerned with the stiffness too being that their front springs. Just thought I would run em by ya'all.

yotaluver 03-31-2011 07:04 AM

EDIT: never mind, they just sold...

weaselman 03-31-2011 01:06 PM

yea, if the come off the front of a dodge. i can guarantee them to be to stiff. no way the rear of your runner is as heavy, even half as heavy. lol

Hey man,

Mine are 12"x125# coils through Southwest Speed. "Black Magic" Coil Springs, and the seller, "kratter" was very helpful, answered all my questions, etc. They gave me around 3" lift right from the get go, in the rear. 2.5"-2.75" maybe at the least with the top on.

If you look below my post in my sig you'll see my Zuk Mod Thread in GREEN.

I think I put the link in there, too. 12" worked ok for me, because I'm only planning on BJ spacers and as lil torque on the T-bars as possible. I put all the instructions and a video for anyone who wants to do it in that thread.

Just go to this guy's site and tell him what you're doing, what kind of height you want.....

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-R...item4386305db4

But might wanna speak with Zuk or others to see what might best fit your desired application, ya know? Zuk, above, whom posted, lol.

ChefYota4x4 03-31-2011 01:27 PM

Oh, and yeah, they were like 30$ each, plus shipping, Brian, ....but yeah, 70$ total to my door for a fully effective lift in rear that brought my springs back and gave me, personally, more flex than I had for sure! lol.

I saw your thread, good stuff! I also plan to do only bj spacers in front, and I was under the impression I would want the 14" for that combo? But you did say your going to have the tbars cranked down. As long as I can run 33's ill be happy.

ztweny8 03-31-2011 01:31 PM

Shipping is a pain because I'm in canada, but I'm going to be ordering stuff for my mustang also. So I will have it all shipped to the border and pick it up there.

ChefYota4x4 03-31-2011 01:41 PM

Well, I don't want to touch my T-bars too much, ...and I think with BJ spacers and maybe 1/2" on the t-bars, I could get the 33x10.50 MT's I want to someday have for trips fit right in, no problems.

The 14"s will work fine, but they'll have you pretty raked unless you do the bj spacers AND crank on the t-bars an inch or so or more.

Maybe Phil or someone that has them will chime in..but see, he has a 3" lift at least in front...and it leveled him out, so I would think if you're doing what I'm doing, "Don't want to crank on the T-bars as I like my kidney's where they are",lol...then you'd probably do better with 12"x125, rather than 14"x100.

Ask Zuk, he'll get back to ya....I'd find out from him before anyone, really....since it's largely his mod idea, lol. Only thing is, he likes a lil more rake, where I want it level(just an each to his own thing, ya know?)

ChefYota4x4 03-31-2011 01:42 PM

BTW, the link I gave you IS the very 14" spring that some have used.

ztweny8 03-31-2011 01:50 PM

I agree with you that I don't want to crank the tbars to the point of a terrible ride and increased wear. I also like a level look, no rake. And a 33x10.5 tire is what I'm after too. Usually I wouldn't want a skinny tire like that but I think it kind of fits the look I'm going after with the truck, and we have snow half the year here, and I remember reading skinny tires are better for snow.

Just some more information for you. I went with the 14" 125lb coils (same Black Magic ones that chef is talking about) and added 1.5" BJ's up front. It sits almost dead level, about .5" low in the front but nothing I can't live with.

I'm running some 285/75/16's (33.2/11.4/16) and I rub on the front, or I did until I removed some metal. The back is still an unknown although I did have to beat the pinch weld down to stop some rubbing. I have not been able to wheel it yet to see where else it may rub.

i went to a scrap yard and got the front coil springs out of a mid 90's jeep and stuck them in, the go over both bump stops so there is no cutting. plus the only way that will ever come out (short of cutting it yourself) is if the leafs break. just an idea i think mine came out of a cherokee but they were 10 bucks. i got 3.5 inches over what i had... i think it was like 1-2 inches over stock
