Ok,

We dropped the tranny in my 87 Runner. It slipped off the jack and stopped on the jack stand...no big deal (other than the heart attack it gave me).

So out falls this bolt...and no one knows where the heck it came from?

It's yellow and made out of plastic or some sort of composite.
It has an o-ring mid way down the bolt.
Check the pictures

It's totally possible that this thing has been sitting in the chassis for years and just fell out with the jolt from the falling tranny.

No one in the shop knows what it is...no one at the auto parts store knows either.

Dear yotatech minions, what the heck is this bolt?

(and don't make fun of my homemade bandaid!!!) :)

it looks like a bolt found on the upper intake of the 22re, if you have a chillton or hanes manual, check the upper intake styles, and see if there anyting missing from yours.

does not look like a toyota product... the only thing plastic with an 0 ring on it I can think of would be the drain plug on the radiator.
but its not from the back of the motor or from the transmission. I'm fairly sure of that.

I looks like the A/C idle up VSV bolt, but I've never seen one in yellow.

I would have to agree. The AC idle up adjusting screw.
