where do you wrench?

Where do work on your trucks? Carport, garage, outside in the elements?

I work at a dealership as a tech, and occasionly use my lift, just as long as I don't tie up the lift. I might have to use my friends garage to do my SAS.

all the above. In my garage most of the time. My next house is going to have a garage or shop big enough to have a lift. I turn wrenches on all my hondas as well, and alift would be very nice.

in my front yard on a hill

In the garage or in the driveway. When I worked at the shop, I had the luxury of using the lifts, but since I went back to school, I can't. Bummer.

In my garage... it's good enough since we are just starting out, but we are making sure to get something bigger the next time we buy.

I'm a college student, so weekends are spend in parking lots, parallel parking spots, and tops of parking garages...

Makes me appreciate having an indoor space to work on much more when I go home.

i run a shop so work on my truck here , it makes it real easy

The street in front of my parents' house. I just moved into an apartment so nothing major can be done here. I'll probably end up doing a lot of things in the parking lot behind the office, too.

jht3 07-21-2007 07:19 AM

in the alley behind my house. i installed my winch out front and got many odd looks from the neighbors. never have had a garage, so i'm used to working in the cold, heat, rain, etc.

i have been spoiled some by my friends. one is a tech at a dealer and has a few lifts of his own that i can use on weekends. another owns a race car fab shop with 3 lifts with all the tools that go along w/ the biz. i try not and wear out my welcome! it's SOOO nice to have air tools and a lift to work under

I'll admit I grew up spoiled with a 4 car garage and mechanic dad with everything. My first house had a one car garage, after 6 years I moved and bought a house with 3 car garage. Even 3 car gets small real quick, but I'll manage for a few years. :hillbill:

On top of old terra.... all covered with grease.... I work on my runner....pass the beer, please

I am desirous of a shop, though. That'll happen within a year.

Robrt32 07-21-2007 09:12 AM

right out in my gravel drive way.. I can use my bosses shop but most of the time i don't.. I dream of 1 day having me a shop here at the house.. nothing big just enough room to pull my truck in, shut the door with room to work.

drew303 07-21-2007 11:01 AM

If I know the truck will be out for a few days I make room in the 2 car garage.. half is dedicated workshop/woodshop the other is enough room to fit a car (barely) ..LOL

But usually I work on everything in the driveway.

Being in the Northwest it rains, and rains a lot. I usually start hanging tarps from the top of the garage out over the truck to keep somewhat dry. Someday I'll have a shop =)

Buddy of mines dad has a big shop and a lift with a very convenient engine hoist... But I actually prefer to work at home, I've actually got more tools, ha.

In the driveway, and almost always in the rain. Our next house will have a garage.

drguitarum2005 07-21-2007 11:19 AM

occasionally in our garage but more often than not in the driveway or if im on campus, just down in the parking lot.

yotaduck 07-21-2007 11:31 AM
