Wheel question

will the “premium “ wheels from 4Runner work on the 94 pickup. The alloy with 8 offset. While using a 30/9.5/15 tire.

I know some models of the pickup used the same wheel. Mine came with the 6 or 7 spoke model which I loved but the dude that owned before me sprayed um silver. 🤮 He even got the hubs. Boooooo

at the junkyard I don’t find many replacements like mine but the premium wheels I’m finding a few of. I noticed on rock auto and such it does not offer them on the 4wheeler drive version so I was not sure if the ones on the 4Runner where different than the ones that came on the later trucks

They will fit just fine.

If I go with this wheel combination does anyone know my tire limitations ? Won’t the 8 offset change something of note ?

My '95 Runner came new with 10-50-31s on these wheels.

That’s what these have on them now. I will be going with this or 30/9.5/15. I just didn’t know if the offset would cause me issues on my 94 truck or if these would work with the factory hubs. I can get all 4 for 100 bucks

So I picked these up. They need a cleaning. When do you start running into issues with these wheels. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.yot...bc0d7b148.jpeg

what I mean is when do I start running into issues with Tires and this wheel combination.

So I am planning on going to discount tire tomorrow to put these new wheels on. Will there be an with using the lug bolts from my factory steels. On the other wheel the lugs are not recessed inside the wheel like on these.

The lugs for steel wheels are NOT CORRECT for your alloy wheels and they will bugger them up.

Here is a link to the type needed for your alloy Toyota wheels.::: Not an endorsement of this seller, or of the quality of the parts, but just to show type.

My truck came with 31/10.50/15 on those wheels when it was new in 1990. I now have 32/11.50/15 on them now with no problems rubbing..

as the post above mentioned, the nuts are not the same for those alloy wheels. Be careful, as over the years tire shops and myself have stripped the lug nut/studs when torquing. Also on the front, put a little never seize on the edge of the center wheel hole where it goes over the hub. My front wheels were stuck on due to electrolysis.

Thanks for the info. I was looking at both and started to wonder. Glad I did. I picked up the said lugs. By weeks end I hope to have the new ones on.

I ran into someone that had 31s and they were telling me they did rub a lil at full tilt. My truck is bone stock. I’m going with 30/9.5 since I already have two new Tires in my garage. 😉

The center caps differ from first gens to second. I saw discussion on it here. Those trim caps can be $$$

This got put off for a few weeks. So I am headed in the morning to discount tire. I’m thinking of going with the 30/9.5/15. I picked up the wheels and lugs. Any issues with the stock bolts /thread size to be anticipated ? The mud terrains on it now are wild loud. Pretty sure I’m going with bf Goodrich all terrains . any other suggestions I should consider ? Or problems I may encounter on this wheel swap

Spread5150 08-18-2019 06:46 PM

Small update on this. I went with 30/9.5/15 and all had been well with the stock suspension. No surprises there.

When it came to this size cooper/ Yokohama and bf Goodrich really were the only options.

On to the spare ... since the spare is the reverse problem regarding the lugs is there an issue if and when the spare is used. Since it does not have the offset or inset lugs like the alloy wheel does ? Will the new lugs shown above for the alloy wheel work on the steel wheel ?

I found a killer deal on another alloy wheel that I could throw under there but I don’t know if the alloy fits under the truck in the spare tire carrier ???????

Here’s a picture of them on the truck at the last oil change.
