What year did the A340H no longer have a transfer oil cooler?
The a340h in my 87 4runner is not the original transmission. PO swapped the shot original with another that came from who knows where. The id plate is missing and so I'm trying determine an approximate date based on the features, wiring, etc.The a340h that I have does not have an oil cooler attached to transfer case, but the original a340h used on the 87 4Runners did have an oil cooler. Couple questions:
1) When did Toyota drop the oil cooler from the a340h transfer case?
2) What changes were made to the a340h through the 90's?
Thanks for the info. So far it looks like the transfer oil cooler was available from 87 to 95, suggesting the one I have installed might be 96 or newer, or the transfer case may have been swapped out at one time.
