What weight oil do you use?
Just wondering what type of oil all you use.and the weight? I have a 3.0 engine and was just wondering what type and weight you recommend.

My 3.0 has 156,000 miles and leaks a little from the oil cooler, I like castrol 10W-40. I think something a little thicker is better for a higher mileage engine, just my opinion though

In the 80's the 22re's called for 20W50 and I use to run it in my 86 and 87 runner's but I've never gone above 10W40 for the 3.0, but I suppose in the summer it would be fine, but I would definitley use 10W40 when it gets cold

10w-30, if you change it every 3k there is no point in buying all that high mileage, castol, good brand junk. Go to walmart and buy thier brand, its made by quaker state or havoline (texaco) last time I checked. Last chang I put in havoline cause it was on sale.
If you plan on having the oil in thier for over 5k def buy the better stuff.

I definitely agree with Bruzer. I put Penzoil 10w-30 in mine year round but '40 wouldn't hurt during the summer. I use high mileage oil--supposedly it helps the seals, but it's probably just hype. Ah well, helps me sleep at night.
How 'bout oil filters?? What do yall use in your trucks? I try to use Toyota filters everytime I can, but if I run out, I'll buy a Double-Guard Fram from Walmart.
PS Walmart's SuperTech oil IS made by Quaker State.

10w40 and sometimes 20w50 in the summer..
edit: usually buy whatever's cheapest or on sale and change it out every 6 months or 3k miles. I get either the supertech filters from walmart (which are better than fram) or the motorcraft fl400s which is a oversized filter that just fits in and has the same bypass valve specs as the stock filter.
