What size is lower starter bolt in 3vz
I woke up yesterday morning; went out to start my 1993 toy 4x4 ext cab and it just made a grinding noise; like the gears on the starter were not meshing. Of course, oh h***, another problem. I planned on going out today, buying another starter and replacing it, but it doesnt look as easy to get to as I thought. Reguardless, I noticed, the lower bolt on the starter was missing, hoping that is the problem, but I am looking for the correct size, not sure autozone knows, if not guess I will go to the stealer.

M12 maybe, it's been a while since I removed mine but I think it was a 17mm socket, which usually means an M12 thread. As for length, that's asking more than my 40something memory can handle.

Happened to my Sons 4Runner two weeks ago. Starter was literally hanging by the positive cable and wire harness. I can’t seem to find those bolts anywhere. Did you ever find what size they were?

I'm about 90% sure they're M10 x 1.25. Now the length, I can't recall. Because the 3vz and 5vz are different. IIRC on the 3 they both insert from front of vehicle (and they're both about the same length?).
The 5V has one from the back, but its much shorter. Like 3 inches or something. But I really don't remember now. I do know they are the 10x1.25 I still got one in a bag, labeled. And just went out and checked it. LOL about the only dang thing I bagged and labeled.

I am 100% sure they are both M10 x 1.25. The lower bolt that goes in from the front to the back is 40-45mm long. Don't get just any washer head bolt tho. It should be a 14mm bolt with about a 15mm washer. If you get a generic bolt from AutoZone, it's likely to be 15mm drive and too wide to fit properly. The bolt hole is pretty close to the starter body.
