What Kind of Plugs do Yota like?
86 22RTE in my 4Runner. It's about time I changed the plugs and wires on it. What kind of plugs do yotas like? I know the Fords don't like expensive plugs, they run better on Motorcraft or Autolite plugs. Are Toyotas picky too?

This thread could have some perverted answers :D
But, I will say NGK or Denso are the best plugs I have been able to find. I used NGK plugs in my race car (MR2) and Denso in all the rest of my rigs. Toyota seems to run the opposite with Autolite plugs, ie not very well. |
Stock Toyota.

NGK...autolite is crap unless your driving a Frod Ragner

Denso #1 NGK #2

I am a big champion fan am runnin them in my 88 truck and it loves them never a problem.

autolite in mine today, they are better then the old NGK that were in there. Any new spark plug is better than a old one.

Denso iridium, Bosch platinum 4, and NGK's (if you run NGK's, go with NGK-R's,"U" groove),me personally am running E3 high fire plugs. I have tried all of these mentioned, and the E3's (FOR ME) gave me a bit more power and better fuel econ. They all are a bit more pricey, but imo they were worth it. Just my opinion though, take it with a grain of salt and a pinch of pepper. On a side note, you don't need an expensive or aftermarket ignition system to get the full benefit of these plugs. Remember to use anti-seize on the threads and dielectric grease on the boots...

Agree 100% All the fancy plugs are garbage. I've tried splitfire or multipronged plugs in everything from jet skis to Toyotas, all junk. Stick with the standard NGK and Denso. They will never let you down. |
I know its crazy. Thats ALL I run in anything of mine...is NGK v-power or whatever the cheap ones are. They work great.

I run regular NGK plugs in my yota, outboard motors, boat and both of my dirt bikes. champion in everything else basically. I tried an e3 on my go kart, and it wouldn't run worth a damn. I through a cheap champion plug and it will start with a single very slow pull 95% of the time. and that is on an old beaten up 5 horse briggs.

NKG's are supposed to be the best but honestly, a plug is a plug. They all do the same thing.

NGK all the way
