What kind of off-road lights??
I am looking to add some off-road lights to my truck, just using the stock bumper as a mount, untill I get a TJM or warn. I dont want anything that would block my grill too much though, as I live in texas, and 100+ degree weather is common. I also have 2 switches already wire up from when i bought the truck, it had 2 sets of drving lights, but one didnt work, I was thinking about rewireing the switches. One only comes on when the brights are on, and the other comes on whenever you want it to, but turns off with the truck. I took them off though because they werent working right, and they looked like crap. What would you all suggest?

Check out my new thread on my new lights.

They are cheap, sure, but so far seem sturdy, and I was impressed with the brightness, and at 8.99 a pair from Harbor Frieght, you can afford to break several.

by looking at your bumper profile, if you dont want anything sticking out, youre going to have to cut back into the grill or recess them in the bumper. i dont think youll find a light that thin to not stick out..

I dont mind it sticking out anymore, I kindof wish i would have kept them so i could have some offroad lights, but i was in that phase to make my truck a show truck...now i just want some offroad lights!! Plus it just didnt look right with the little square lights!!

if you get a toyota (or other brand) pushbar/ brush guard, they'll bolt up just fine, and look good, too. here are my old bosch lights on my '94. (they're both broken now, due to someone backing into the front of my truck and crushing them, but he bought me hella 550's to replace them. )
here's what they looked like:

I kind-of dont have the money right now to buy a brushguard, and i am getting a winch bumper sooner or later and it would kindof be a waste, i think.

For the best bang for the buck..get ProComp 8 inchers ! I have them on mine. I have used them for quite sometime..I only recommend a fresh coat of paint once you get them, but they are very bright and are perfect for a budget.

my ipf 968's were pretty cheap, emit excellent light, and are fairly low profile. theyre not big pods like the others. might want to look into those as well...

yeah, my hellas only cost like $100 or so. the only thing i see with them that i don't like is that it uses one output on the relay for both lights, whereas my boshes used two separate outputs, one for each light. with some sylvania H3 lamps, they were wicked bright.

I liked the lights you had on it before. I got the El-Cheapos from walmart that were 20 a set, they are 'Baja Tough' They are 55Watt, throw a decent ammount of light and have bursh guards to boot.

The way those switches are set-up is perfect... I wouldn't bother rewiring...One that comes on only with high-beams would be for "spot" lights because they throw a really far narrow beam (and aren't liked by other motorists) and the switch that comes on whenever would be good for "flood" lights that are a broader light pattern.... I'm gonna get the same set-up on mine and mount them on the bumper, but only get Pro Comp 55w 5", two of each(spot and flood) 'cause they're only like 12 bucks each from 4wheelparts... either way, I wouldn't buy really expensive lights until you get your final bumper because you probably won't keep the same lights with it anyways...whatever...
