what gear ratio is stock
I have a 1989 4x4 reg cab, v6(3.0) with manual trans. I wanted to know if there is a standard gear ratio. I have an opertunity to purchase another rear end with 4:10 but I dont know if that is what I currently have.

Jack up tire, spin tire 20 times, count rotations of d-shaft. Take that number divide by 10 and thats your ratio.
You either have 4.10's (likely) 4.30's (not so likely) or 4.56's (likely)
Do not pay more than $50 for a 4.10 rear diff, they are VERY common.

Check your axle code, it will be on your driver side door post. Look here to decipher.

It will be a 4 digit code after the transmission info M/T, and will start with a G like G084 which would be a 4.10. The G is 8" rear, which is what you have.
