What Driveshaft for This Application?

I have an automatic in my '89 V6 first generation 4runner. I'm going to pull that out and install an R151F manual trans that I already have. That's a trans out of a 22RE turbo with a RF1A gear type transfer case. I'll use a V6 bellhousing, so it should be an easy bolt-in swap after I install a flywheel and clutch. Anybody know if I'll be able to use a stock driveshaft for a V6 or 4 cyl manual application? -- Matt

Not quite the same but I went from a 1990 G58 to a R151f My drive line fit ok and every thing bolted up except for the cross member. I ended up using a cross member from a w56. Also my 4cyl drive line bolted to a v6 differential. I am not sure if the auto is longer the the manual.

Good call whokrz, I forgot all about the crossmember. I also ran the R151F in my '84 p/u. It originally had a G series trans. That was a straight bolt-up job all around. I'm pretty sure the automatic driveshaft and crossmember won't work. I have the crossmember out of my deceased '84 p/u and could probably find one from a V6. I wonder how many different crossmembers there are for second generation pickups and first generation 4runners? -- Matt

It's hard to figure this out without having the parts in hand and the vehicle ready to receive them. Looking at Budbuilt aftermarket crossmembers , I see that he has four different part numbers for '84 - '95 trucks and 4runners. I put a call in to him today. He says that he's seen this combination before. he's gonna check his records and get back to me with the correct application. When that is figured out it may shed some light on the driveshaft question.

I saw an aftermarket transfercase mount that Marlin Crawler sells; it's less costly than the factory mount and it's 2x as cool. I'm hoping that it will work with this combination. -- Matt
