What is best to clean Engine Oil Pump Pickup Tube and screen. OIL PICK - UP. STRAINER
I have this Engine Oil Pump Pickup Tube and screen. OIL PICK - UP. STRAINER removed from the oil pan while working on putting together the engine rebuilt along with new parts. I thought might as well clean the Engine Oil Pump Pickup Tube and screen. OIL PICK - UP. STRAINER, since I never done it before..
While researching this issue, some came up with soaking kerosene and leave it overnight to dislodge sludge, particulars, dirt, grime, etc. Other boil water and soak it in. I am interested in what this forum has to say about it and hopefully provide useful suggestions. Thanks for reading. |
Really kind of depends how clogged it is and with what is it clogged with.
For example gasket gooo, water won't have any effect on and depending on the type neither will kerosene, need a mechanical/physical removal method. |
Oil strainer soaked in using the bucket.
The oil pump strainer is now soaked in with purple power concentrate with 50/50 mixture with hot water in the metal bucket just enough room to cover the bottom part with the oil strainer end. Here are some pictures of the oil strainer prior to soak in.
