Weasy cams
 

Any one running them and if so what's your assessment of them?

Or the Crower or colt re grinds?

Weasy cams are the colt re-grinds. Weasy was just the middle man I guess you could say.

I run them but did a lot of other work at the same time so couldn't tell you what the difference would be if you just changed cams.

Good to know. I am considering them as a substitute for stock replacements if mine show excessive wear.

Called Crower today and seems like a very good price. About $175 for the pair seems very reasonable and the tech seems to know what he is talking about.

It's a done deal. We will hopefully ship them out tomorrow if I filling up to getting out of the house. Just got the valve springs and shims in from LCE today.

If you've gone this far you might as well go all the way and order 1mm oversized valves from engnbldr. Cmon you know you wanna. :coffee:

Lol yes but I am sure they are a nice penny plus I am not sure how much port work is needed.

Cbr, could you explain the process, and your total cost on the cams. Are these reground, similar to the weasy/colt cams?

The process seems simple.

Print and Fill out a cam information card to send in with your cams.
Crower will inspect your cams and determine what they can do with them
They re grind your stock cams based on condition, your mods, and what your goal is.

The tech I talked today seemed very confident they could improve low and mid range power.

Cost is about $175 for the pair.

Sounds easy enough. Look forward to your impressions once you get it all back together.

Off topic but kinda cool story. Years ago I had a really good experience with Crower. I had ordered some forged connecting rods from them to go in a SB ford 302 (TT setup based off of an R302 block) I was building. They sent them to me COD. UPS delivers the connecting rods and I give the UPS driver the money orders (approx 600 bucks). About a month later I get a call from Crower stating they never received the MO's. I explain to them that the MO's were given to the UPS driver. I send them a copy of the MO's plus some paperwork they asked me to fill out. Thought that was the end of it. Lo and behold a few weeks after that Crower sends me a check for the connecting rods, a thanks, and the connecting rods are on us. It was a good day!!

I have delt with comp cams in the past for my LT1 and LSX stuff so this is my first time dealing with Crower. I know they have been around for a long time and have a good reputation. If I can get out of the house for a hour I will try to get them shipped off today.

This is really slowing me down thanks to the infection but hopefully the antibiotic will start taking effect so I don't feel so crapy.

Ouch!!!! Get that thing well. Going to be sore for awhile.

Heads are all cleaned up. Here is a picture of the cam form for when you send your cams in. Just google Crower cam form and it shows up as a PDF.

Looking nice and clean!!!!! Now is a good time to clean up any casting flash you have on the heads. The water passages and in the valve areas. Dont need to go crazy just cut down the rough jagged edges. Something like a dremel with a burr bit

Are you going to try the oversize valves or stick with stock? What about headers?

Out of all the things I would like to do, headers are at the top of the list. Would love to get rid of the crossover. Really like the North West Off Road setup with the LCE's coming in second. High cost on both setups especially for 20+ year old trucks.

I love my LCE headers. I ended up getting one of the first sets off the line. So new, in fact, that they hadn't even finished developing them when I bought them. I had to wait months, but got an extra crossover pipe because they didn't realize the origional wouldn't fit an automatic. They tried squeezing an extra $200 out of me but I set the wife on them and only ended up paying the $599 they were originally listed at. With the cams, valves, and LCE headers/exhaust everyone thinks I have a v8 swap.

Good advice about the coolant passage I didn't think about it but your right I can clean that up with a dremel once I get the arm working.

For headers the short answer is No. However since I have 2 1/2 inch pipe from the 02 sensor back with a 13 inch magnaflow cat I am probably going to do a cross over pipe removal and build a y pipe using 2 inch tubbing off both manifolds.

Stock valves with no port work. I am running a stock intake manifold, stock TB, and stock air box.

Crower should receive the cams on Monday but with the holiday I would expect a small delay.

The cams are set for delivery at Crower by the end of the day. The 4th of July holiday held up Shipping.
