waterpump, fan clutch, thermostat, radiator

Hi all, I don't have time to filter through all the posts that don't have anything to do with my problem. I have a 97 tacoma 2.7 4x4 automatic.
I changed the waterpump, fan clutch, thermostat. It all started when I flushed the radiator, due to the rusty looking water. I had the radiator rodded out about two years ago. I also changed the upper hose because it didn't look so good.
Now when I drive it about 12 miles to town with the air on it does fine for about 5 or 6 miles then the cooling gauge starts to climb from halfway ( the usual) when I give it gas it starts to go back down to half. When I got to town today it started to reach about 2/3 hot. I threw on the heater with the fan on high and I got cool or cold air out of it. When I went back out to the truck to leave I turned the heater on again and I got hot air. On the way home I ran the air again and it did fine for awhile.About 2 to3 miles from home it started getting hot again. When I got home I popped the hood and the coolant was full in the overflow and the upper hose was making a groaning gurgley noise. What could the problem be?
