Water pump questions for a 3.0

I am in the middle of replace a water pump in my 3.0. As you can see from the pictures, the new pump has what looks like a by pass around the thermostat which my old pump does not have. Am I correct about that pipe being a by pass? If so, where would I attach it? Would I tee it in by the over flow? Since my old unit does not have one, I do not have the correct connection.

Any ideas?

The "bypass" is a take off hose for the oil cooler. They should have asked if you had an oil cooler or not as .... you can see, they are slightly diffrent pumps

check the inside of the pump and see if that nipple goes through the casting. They may not have drilled the hole for it. (but i dought it)

If you bought this from the 1 May 06 posting on this forum, you could put a short piece of hose, a couple of clamps, and an unused bolt on it to make it work. If you bought it from the dealer, I suggest you take it back and get the correct one. ALWAYS take your VIN # to the parts dept to ensure you get the correct part for YOUR Vehicle!

a more permant solution would be to pop into a local radator shop and have them crimp the end of the hose and braze it up.

I did by it from YotaTech. I might get a cap and use some JB Weld. Thanks.

there are 2 different water pumps for that motor. One was for a factory equipped tow package and the other is not.
