water pump metal gasket with seal packing
Hey guys,
I just bought a new water pump for V6 3.0L and I'm about to replace the timing belt. Now my question is do I still need to put some FIPG or RTV around the seal packing that is already incorporated in the metal gasket that came with the new OEM water pump?
I'm about to do this task this coming 4th of July week end. I did a lot of searched in here and a lot of reading. My eyes are getting read and tired.
I appreciate any info. Thanks.

WATER PUMP
Installation
1) Apply sealant on water pump sealing area. Install water
pump. Install and tighten bolts to specification. See Fig. 22.
2) Install thermostat with jiggle pin facing upward (toward
top of engine). Using NEW gasket, install coolant inlet. Install and
tighten nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS. To install
remaining components, reverse removal procedure. Fill cooling system.

i no longer use RTV on gaskets, i've switched to permatex high tack sealer. used it on my water pumps, timing covers and everything(well, except head gaskets) and no leaks. easy to get off if you ever have to get back in there, too.
if RTV or FIPG gets loose it can cause major headaches...

I have in my hand is a Permatex Ultra Black Hi-Temp RTV Silicone Gasket Maker, is this good enough? Can I use this in addition to the seal that was already built in to the metal gasket that came with the new water pump? I have used a lot of red Toy FIPG on transmission pan, but not on water pump.
I don't know maybe I have to put a small beads around the seal to ensure no leakage.
