warn manual hubs coming this week
got the warn manual hubs coming this week and I don't feel comfortable with my jack. (my CAR's jack I mean). this is something that I need to practice using (raising the vehicle).
I read that some people installed these without removing the wheel.
is this something that I can do or is this something that would be stupid
also I don't have any tools other than my regular toolkit.
I am vividly remembering my AFM disaster and think that I have %^&$ up enough stuff this week.

it would be challenging to get it on there with the wheels on, since you have to first knock off the dust cap (think angle -- it doesn't screw off), and then the old flange -- again an angle trick due to the cone washers. be safe and get jackstands. the stock bottle jack *will* lift the vehicle just fine for this, so no worries there. a racing jack is definitely preferred, but it's not necessary.

warn hubs
what extra tools do I need- to remove the washers etc.
I know I should search more but I'm tired!
also what's a racing jack, I want something really safe.
how much should somebody charge to swap them out if I get lazy
could a muffler shop do it? I m getting the new magnaflow put on next week, maybe he could do it at the same time

for a noob, start to finish, including re & re wheels should take you no longer than 2 hrs. small flat screw driver to gently insert into the slot of the cone washers and tap with a hammer, they will come out.

really a jack that comes with the truck is fine to lift it into the air,
because your gonna set that side on a jackstand anyway which is plenty secure.
oh and mufler shop =! mechinic

I had to take one of my Warns off and put the ADD plate back on. Did it with the wheel on, no problem. Does make it a bit harder to get your fingers in and such. (Keep in mind I had already done it once and knew exactly what I was looking for/at)

IMO, I would go all the way and pull the rotor off an repack the wheel bearings, your only two extra bolts (brake caliper) from being there when you do this install...

Why you take the wheel off to put on manual hubs. You can get the cone washers off either by lightly tapping on the rotor right above the washer(don't beat on the hub body) or goto your local hardware store and get a solid piece of brass rod about 3/4" think and about a foot long, then hit the stud on the end using the brass rod and hammer. They will pop off, I use criss-cross pattern, usually the hub and the rest of the washers will come loose after you get a couple of them loose. I use a combination of both, get a couple off the brass punch and then tap around the rotor a couple of times. They fall off after that!
