Update: pics of bed swaps

Update: Scroll down for pics.

Hi all,

As you may know, I am in the middle of a bed swap.

Anyway, I would reallylke to see pics of 1988 or equal truck with a 1992 type bed on it!

I measured the mounts, looks like six of the eight match up. Going to have to fab some rears.

I did a search, nothing came up.

thank you!!!

I've been looking high and low for a pic of it. I've been trying to visualize it and was tempted to lift mine on to my truck temporalely, but with only two people and being in the middle of painting I am afraid to mess something up. I want lift the bed onto the truck just once!

Your buddies truck loooks great. I like the look. I was a little concerned about the wheel well differences but after seeing this i am releaved. thanks!

Anyone ever try swaping the front fenders out ?

Would be a nasty gap by the door, the 3rd gen is more round then the 2nd.

I see a guy locally with the 2nd gen truck with 3rd gen bed combo. Looks okay, its a little wider then the cab though

yeah, IMO, they don't line up all too well, and I'm not a big fan of the way the front and rear wheel fender lines are different; more "boxy" up front, and more "curvey" in the rear but then again I've always been a symmetrical kinda person and ironically I drive a 4cly, where NOTHING is symmetrical under the hood... and it drives me NUTS

Yeh, I hear about the round and square fenders. It is going to bug me! But my bed was really really bad. It was basically held together with duct tape and it looked like pooo! There are absolutely 0 beds availabel for my year, unless I go fiberglass, which isn't in the budget right now. I think I may look into fender flares for the 92 model and cut up my fronts to fit the flares.

want to do one, but for now not an option. We plan on using the truck for camping and such. Gonna get a topper and sliding window with a boot so the dog can ride with us on vacation and be comfortable.

I think it came out alright. Some Day, maybe I will find a cherry '88 or throw down for a glass bed but for now it works.

Yeah, I hear ya, but its near impossible to find a good 88 bed out east in salt land. Even If I was to find a original 88, it wouldn't be long until it rusted again out here. It seems those 2nd gen beds were constructed with too many seems for moisture to hide out in, poor design on the wheel wells too. I do feel better about not having gaping rust holes in the sides and a torn up bed. But the wheel wells do bother me a bit. If I ever make a road trip out to Cali in it. I am going to bring my tools and do swap while I''m there.
