vss in combination meter
 

hi, I have a 90 pickup with a 3.0 and 5speed. My problem is the vss in the combination meter is not working and want to know if I can remove this or replace it. Before I removed the speedometer cable the truck would run great until you took it on the highway when it would stall out then come back to life a minute later. the speedometer and odometer worked fine till I disconnected the cable which cured the stalling but I am left with a GPS speedometer/Odometer. Does anyone know how to fix this without swapping the entire cluster? Thanks
