very bad gas mileage

I'm New. Btw This A Great Site. I Have Had Several Toyotas Over The Years And I Just Bought Another Truck 4x4 W 3.0l. I'm Getting Aroung 11mpg. I Know This Can't Be Right. I Don't Have A Cat, I Have Fresh Ngk Plugs, New Dist Cap, New O2 Sensor, New Air Filter, Recenct Oil Change, Everything Seems To Be In Order. The Truck Runs Very Good Idles Smooth And Has Good Power. I Am At Loss To Where My Gas Is Going. An Input On This Condition Would Be Great. Thanks Ken

Your tires may be oversize (32+). You might also replace your fuel filter. I'm not sure how a restricted fuel filter can ruin your gas mileage, but mine did a few years back.

Alot depends on how you drive and what conditions you drive in.
I have a 4x4 Runner with 31's and the 3.0 auto: on the freeway I get 17mpg and in the city I get 10-11mpg (stop and go, lots of idling, speeds slower than 25mph). And I drive conservatively!

Having said that, 11mpg ave for a (stock? ... no cat?) truck sounds low.

Don't overlook the obvious either: is your alignment good, are your tires at the right pressure, do you race off when the light turns green, are you carrying around any unecessary dead weight, do you run the a/c full blast, etc?

Any engine codes being thrown?

Please put a cat on, your poisoning the environment and gaining no extra power. You could be causing problems not having one, but most of all, your truck is adding low level Ozone at the level of 20+ cars with converters contributing to acid rain, athsma, smog, etc. rant over.

It could just be a bad o2 sensor, or a bad/ wrong thermostat.

the tires are a good point..what kind of o2 sensor. If its anything but denso or ngk this may be a problem contributing to the low mileage
