Unsure on what happened to my motor...
Well I was out 4-wheeling today and came across a pretty big mud bog so I decided to go through it. I was in first gear going about 5 miles an hour, as soon as I hit the mud bog I floored it and about a split second later my engine shut off. I let it sit about 10 minutes and it still wouldnt turn over so I assumed it was hydro-locked. So once I got pulled out of there I removed all the spark plugs and got pulled down the street with my truck in gear so all the water would shoot out of the cylinders, after it looked like all the water was gone I put the plugs back in place and fired it up. It hesitated but started up and sounded like a damn lawn mower, it's idleing at about 600 RPM's but veerrrry shaky, sounds like a thrown rod or a valve. I shut off my motor immediately and walked in front of it to notice ALL my oil pouring out of it, havent found the location yet. I'll have to wash it down and look at it in the morning but I was wondering that if this was caused by a hydro-lock what could have broken? Thanks. BTW, heres a couple pictures.

Yeah the aftermarket filter probably lead to your engine's demise. I got stuck in a very simmaler situation except the water was slightly deeper (3 inches of water inside, pain in the a$$ to clean up) I got a little water in but I hate to say it but i think the stock air box saved me.

Well the ÅÅÅÅty thing is I put that air filter on about 2 hours before I went into this puddle. I think once my new engine is put in I'll be buying a snorkel. I dont think I'm going to go with the same one, I'll probly do a 3.4 swap, does anyone have any detailed guides to doing this swap? And also, where should I order a rebuilt 3.4 from? Thanks.

Water doesn't look that deep really. If you had gone in easy, probably would have been OK... The entry is when you need to be most careful, once you get in and leveled out, THEN you can get on the skinny if you have to!

You'll need to post links to the threads themselves...

{hijack for tutorial}
Yeah.. it's based on how the backend of the forum software runs.
When you search, it actually builds a temporary "table" (database) of the results. That way, you can still have access to it while you're looking through the options. But, that table takes up disk space, so to keep things neater and tidier, the temp tables get purged (deleted) after a while. I think it's 60 minutes...

Nah I'm going to be keeping it, my dads going to have one of his friends (Mechanic) do a motor swap for us, still talking to him about a 3.4 . The air filter is a K&N FIPK.
Does anyone know what else could have been damaged from the water, I did feel a clunk underneath my foot once I got it started, but is there another part that could make a clunk, and then pour out all my oil? The engine wasnt pressure-started with a whole lot of force, so I'm wondering if something else broke instead.
