Two belts are rubbing now...?!

Alrighty folks. Haaaaaalp! 1990 3.0 3vze 4x4

Swapped my power steering pump out and the belt needed to go, as did the a/c belt so I swapped that one out too. Put it all back together and now my alternator belt and my a/c belts rub.

ps pump bolt torqued to 32lbs
ac belt tensioner pulley nut- I couldn't find specs so I went to 13lbs like some suggested on here.

Green dot - alternator belt
Blue dot - a/c belt
Red square - where they rub, just below where the power steering belt wraps around the fan, on the left side of it

Why?! They certainly didnt before.

I think your ac belt is wrong, it looks to wide to me. I just looked at mine and its not as wide as yours.

Yes. Belts may look simple but they're not. Width, length (perimeter/circumference, strictly speaking because it is a loop, not a line) and V-angle have to be just right in order to make it fit in the pulley and not rub against adjacent parts. Best to buy locally so you may try them and easily and return if they do not fit.
Ask me how I know :)

I was thinking it was a bit too wide as well, but thought w tension it would seat into the pulley. Makes sense that I got the wrong one though because the first PS belt was too short. I could tell immediately when I got my old one off.

Well, at least breaking those bolts loose again will be easy as pie. ˟˟˟˟thedamn!

thanks

oh! The tensioner pulley on my ac belt... is 13lbs alright? Its taught, it doesnt wobble...

After 8 different belts, the guy at the parts store finally offered the measuring tool. Bloody, brilliant.

she lives again, and without that awful PS whine! Thanks a bunch for your input.
