trouble code 42....
 

i'm pulling a trouble code 42. what is it?

my truck randomly misses real bad.

42- Vehicle Speed Sensor Signal.-- SPD signal is not input to the ECM for at least 8 seconds during high load driving with engine speed between 2200rpm and 5000 rpm.. Trouble area- Open or short in vehicle speed sensor circuit. Vehicle speed sensor. ECM

i know my speedo doesn't work, but how would that make my truck misfire? 42 is the only code i pulled. do i have to clear that one to get the next one? :think:

no you don't need to clear one to get another. Are you sure you didn't get more than one code?

i'll go check it again, but it flashed 42 3 times in a row before i turned the key off.

just checked it again, and all i got was 42 over and over.

my cel never stays on.

when it starts missing real bad the light will flash a couple times and go off. and if it misses and i floor it, the light will come on for about 5 seconds then go out.

why wouldn't it store the code?
