tried to start in gear, now it won't start!

So I just made a dumb mistake (and sorry for the choppy title!).

I was in a hurry and hopped into my truck to go somewhere, I normally never use the "clutch start" button on the dash that lets you start w/o hitting the clutch pedal but for some reason I did (I still don't know why). Well, I know how the button works, the only thing is you have to be in neutral:oops:. Well, I bumped the shifter from 1st to 4th instead of neutral and didn't realize it until I turned the key. The starter tried to turn over the whole engine in 4th gear! Now I can shift into any gear I want but I think what is happening is the starter gears aren't disengaging from the flywheel. How do I remedy this? All I can think to do is put it in gear and push start it with my car.

Any ideas? I have to think there's a simple answer I'm not thinking of.

Try unplugging the clutch cancel button, sometimes they can get stuck or whatever and cause your truck not to start.

Hey, thanks for the reply! Actually I just turned the engine over by putting it in 5th and rolling the truck a few feet. Started up with a little stumble and then it called me an idiot! Oh well, hopefully nobody else reads this post, thanks man!
