Transmission Swap Woes

Got a 1990 Toyota Pickup 4cyl 5spd 4x4 with a manual transmission is on it's way out.
Trying to swap in a manual from a 93 4runner 4x4 but ran into some issues.

The 93 trans bolted to the engine OK but the area that bolts to the rear transmission mount is different. The mount that came with the 93 4runner trans looks like it mounted to the rear of the transfer case instead of underneath it. Is there a different transmission mount that can be used to connect the 93 transmission to the 90 pickup cross member?

Also: Can't get the driveshafts to bolt up because the driveshaft flanges on the 93 transfer case have a slightly different bolt spacing. the bolt spacing on the 93 looks to be is about 1/8" bigger than the one on the 90. Looks like the flanges are bolted to the case with one large nut. Can I just swap the flanges from the old transfer case to the new one or do I have to worry about bearing pre-loads and stuff?

I thought about just swapping the transfer cases but am not sure if the 90 case will work on the 93 transmission. They look slightly different...

Anyone got any advice?

There are 2 different mounts depending on the transfercase. The 93 is prob a g58 transmission and the 90 is a w56 trans and case. For the drive shafts just drill the bolt holes out a bit on the drive shaft yokes. The center is the same so they will mount fine. You will need the trans mount that belongs to each transfer case. The cross mmbers are the same. You will also find that length of the trans and case are different. If you have a hanger bearing you will have to move it. I just weld it where needed. The slip in the rear shaft can take up the difference.

ARRGGGG....
Good call. Looks like the original is a w56 and the one from the runner is a g58. The two are so visually similar that I missed it. Shifters come up through the floor OK and the length is really close. So it looks like I'll need to make up a mount and work out something for the speedo

Thanks for the input. That's good info!

Me I would change flanges .

That is just me.

Because it would be faster then drilling holes :coffee:
