tranny or release bearing?

looked through the threads but cant find what im looking for. Couple different guys told me couple different things

94 Pickup 22re 2wd

The problem:
LOUD rattling/knocking noise coming from transmission. Goes away when clutch peddle pressed in. Happens in all gears except for 4th.

Ive been told its my release bearing, main bearings, and my tranny all together.

Please help!

Id go with input shaft bearing and/or trans bearings.

Had the same issue with my truck. Tried replacing the clutch, but no change. Finally went away when my little bro rebuilt the trans. Turned out to be the input shaft bearing. Because of the way the transmission is assembled, when you have it in 4th, the input shaft rotates at the same speed as the intermediate and output shafts, thus reducing the load and play on the input bearing.
