timing belt

Does anyone know the rib count between timing marks? For the 3.0? My belt doesnt have the factory markings, nor did father inlaw mark when removing.
Thanks Sean

Just line up your hard marks on the gears. It doesn't matter where you install the belt, the marks are there to help installation, but you don't need them.

are you there MHOLME

When you rotate the crank two full revolutions, you're looking for the marks on the cam gears to line back up with the dimples on the rear timing cover. The crank pulley should also be aligned with its mark.

The marks on the timing belt (if there are any) should NOT line up with two revolutions. (In gearing, this is called a "hunting" pattern. If you have a burr on a cam tooth (for instance) this assures the same part of the belt will NOT hit that burr each time around.)

marks on the CAM gears (actually, sprockets). That's what you care about. Don't worry about marks on the belt (as mholme said, they are a convenience, but once the belt is on you should forget about them.)

If the marks on the cam sprockets don't line up, you probably didn't get the belt set correctly before you released the belt tensioner. Try again.
