Ok, you've got it jumpered but is the check engine light flashing?

If not, you don't have it jumpered correctly or your TPS needs adjusting.

The cam gears are the same, but even if they were different, you should still be able to time the distributor.

Are you sure when you moved the distributor a tooth, you moved it the right direction, and only one tooth?

I had a similar issue and had to have all the screws adjusted on the throttle body. They were basically all set back to "correct". Throttle stop, dashpot, idle air control and maybe one other. And then TPS adjusted. Only then was timing set. Runs smooth like cream now. Good folks at Toyatech only charged me one hour labor.

i believe it was $81 to re-adjust all the screws I had already "adjusted". I had adjusted them all into complete idle and running hell. they made it all better. And painted all those screws with yellow paint that means "hey numbnuts! DONT TOUCH THIS SCREW!"
