Thoughts on putting in a new OME suspension...
So, here's some more thoughts if you are contemplatting putting a new Old Man Emu Suspension on your truck (in my case a '92 Xcab 4x4):
1) You HAVE to pre-spray everything with WD40 or similar
2) You HAVE to have a good breaker bar
3) When putting in front shocks, assume that a) top bolts will have to be cut off, b) bottom bolts will be frozen and need the breaker, and c) bottom bolts are 22 mm for some insane reason, so go buy the right socket!
4) You REALLY need a pickle bar, especially for the steering stabilizer
5) For the back, plan on getting the pesky spare tire out of the way
6) You HAVE to have an extra set of hands to safely do the back ... and even then, watch out for dropping the damn axle by accident!
7) ASSUME that the shackle pins both front and aft will be completely frozen... while we got all the nuts loose and everything off on the first pass, couldn't finish the job because can't get front pins out (no matter what), so am waiting on spares before cutting them out.
More thoughts later ... but would say despite all this not as bad as I thought it would be.
Ohhhh yeah - anyone know anything about replacing (for the rear leaf spring) the front shackle pin -- is there some trick for getting things apart?
