if your asking if you can regear a third at home then you cannot its not that much to have a shop do it if you take it out and bring it to them.

think about putting in lockers at this time too you can put a lunchbox locker in at home that is easy

4.56 or 4.88 and ask your self if you plan to get bigger tires

You can order complete locked thirds and have them shipped to your door for some seroius coin but you can just drop that in over a weekend.

I contemplated doing my own re gear and locker install. I read and read about what was involved and how critical it is to do it correctly. I looked into getting the right tools and all that. In the end I decided to have a shop do it and it was totally reasonable cost wise for what is involved.
If you do have a shop do it make sure they have done them before and are familiar with re gearing for offroading.
I had Mikes Specialty Repair do mine MSR on here. He does them all the time and did a great job with my front and rear re gear and Aussie lockers.

*sigh*

Go with 4:88's and get them from a scrap yard out of a toyota that came with 31's from the factory and had the auto tranny. Or look on Craigslist, or in the calssifieds here, hell just do a search.

I bought 4:56's for about 400$ and dropped them in, the thirds are drop outs and easy as crap to change. I even bought and installed my own locker.
