The pic shows a cable that came off the clip above. This is the transmission throttle cable. The pic is from the back if the motor. A43d transmission 22re motor.
There is a metal ring on the cable how does it attach to the clip. I cannot find it in the FSM. thanks guys.

The metal ring just crimps the rubber outer shield to the metal casing. It doesn't attach to the clip.

I feel like the cable is supposed to attach to this. I am having problems with the transmission shifting and I read this may be causing this. I need a pic of someone's cable placement on this hook.

I think this is called the tv or kickdown cable from the automatic transmission.

Can you post up a pic of the cable? Maybe the metal ring you speak of goes up against the metal clip on one side or the other after the cable is snapped into place?

The cable is the one on the lower side of the pic with the metal ring on it.

I went for broke. I placed the cable on the clip, adjusted the cable as it said I the manual, I just now noticed you need the throttle pressed down to make the adjustment. Took her for a spin and low and behold the transmission worked normally for the first time in months. WOW that was all it was thankfully. I was worried the problem was more than that. Mystery solved. 😃

Glad it was that easy! I was focused on the clip and missed the cable in the pic.
