T-case selector popped loose
I tried out the 4wd in my '93 3.0 pickup... all works good, but when I was trying to shift it back into 2HI, the handle seemed to come loose under the trim boot.
I took the boot off, and found that the transfer case shifter had popped out. There is a round snap ring that retains the base of the shifter to the t-case housing. With the shifter put back in place, it almost seems like there were supposed to be 2 identical snap rings on top of each other, turned in opposite directions so that they overlap? Is that right?
Also, there is a round rubber donut that the pivot point of the shifter sits on... mine was in several pieces, and I'm sure some of them were down in the transfer case. Should I not worry about them, and just replace it with a new one, or should I open the case and flush them out?
The FSM diagram doesn't show any of these components, otherwise I would post it up...
Thanks!

No, what your thinking about 2 snap rings is not correct. There is only one on the tcase shifter base.
Just pop that back in and have fun.
You can buy a new shifter seat from marlin crawler.
Change it and just change the fluid.
No need to open up the tcase IMHO.
