Switching EGR vac diaphragms on 3VZ-E?
I bought a burn victim engine that I've transplanted into my '93 4x4 pickup. Because it was a burn victim, the EGR diaphragm is toast, in trying to remove the EGR assembly from the old engine I broke the threads off it and so its unusable, but it holds vacuum so the diaphragm is still good.
It appears as though the vac diaphragm and plunger assy was assembled over the screws that hold the diaphragm to the cast steel piece, then the edge was crimped over the top so I am not sure if I can remove the diaphragm without destroying it. I don't stand to lose anything by tearing it apart, but was curious if anyone else has tried to do this with any success? Otherwise I'm stuck spending $140 for a new EGR assy at the local parts house.
