sub box in 89-95 excab pics wanted
Trying to get some ideas and inspiration as I start to plan installing a sub box for a couple of 10".
Any pictures out there of what you have?

I got two 10s in the back of mine. I still need access to the under seat storage (and use of the seats) so I have mine strapped around the seat brackets. When I need the interior space or I need to get into my storage I just unclip and move the box.

I wanted to keep my two rear seats, so I got a little creative.
I used smaller speakers and built a sub box that mounts in between the two rear seats. It still lets me squeeze the seats up and get to the rear storage.
I sacrificed the side storage cubbies and stuck some speakers in there as well.
Pics will follow when I actually clean out my truck.

there was a thread on this a long time ago, i'm sure it can be searched. anyways, in this thread someone pictured a 10" sub mounted in the under-seat storage compartment. it was a shallow sub, but it can be done. this way, you can flip your seat down and nobody will see your subs and be tempted to steal them. i'd think one good 10" sub would sound great and no need for dual subs since it's such a small cab. some day i hope to get a 10" in the under seat compartment and add some 6x9s in the side cubbys. why toyota thought 2, 4" speakers in the dash would suffice just boggles me. at least for me, i upgraded those and added in some door speakers.

Well Ill tell you the possibiltys for an extra cab are endless. I'd do as Stuwy123 suggested and build the box in between the two seats. It can be done you just have to use your imagination. I put 2 Memphis S Class 10s on my Reg cab last year and gettin those to fit nicely and have ample leg room was a task cause Im 6"3" and these trucks are barely big enough as it is. I alwasy thought to myself if 3 grown japanese men could fit comfortably on that bench seat.....just a thought

i had two 12" best buy x-plods (they were cheap lol..not the walmart ones, the bigger 1300w ones) in two seperate slim boxes sitting on my back "seat" in my '86 lol everything fit fine!
and oh yes, it had LOTS AND LOTS of thump for some crappy subs
my new 12" Alpine Type R's (dual 4ohm voice coils) should be nice with about 2000W of amp running them

Very NICE Death dude!!!!!!!!!
DGfriend, that doesn't seem like it'd be the best way to go about things....kinda like putting the massive subs into the truck of a car without properly prepping the trunk...which in turn would mean it rattles EEEVVVERRRYYYTHING

built my sub box to fit in between the 2 front seats, doubles as a arm rest and a cupholder.
houses 1 Pioneer shallow mount 10" 800w sub, sounds great. you can mount a normal (not shallow mount) sub in there just fine, i just happened to have the shallow mount.
