Lightbulb Stock spare / Swing out spare mount

Can anyone give me ideas on how to remove a very rusted stock spare tire mount?

Anyone have good links for a spare tire mount that mounts in a trailer hitch? Inside the cab? or other mounting points that do not require drilling into the body?

Thanks!

What are your reasons for removal? Is the rust just beyond repair?

I think you won't find a better spare rack than what comes from the factory. Very solid... in my opinion. I hang a 35" tire plus my Hi-Lift all the time. Have even put an 10 extra gallons of gas as well on occasion.

In my opinion, if you can save what you have, you'll be better off.

I think he is talkin about the one under the truck. The first gens dont have the tire carrier option on the rear. Not to hijack the thread but has anyone adapted a tire carrier from the the 2nd gen to a first gen. Is this possible or no?

Oh... I see now how I read the first post incorrectly.

The 2nd Gen carriers can be adapted, but takes some work. I have heard of people doing it to 2nd Gens without the factory carrier... they get the different tail gate and add the internal gusseting for the hinge.

For a 1st Gen install you would need to do some additional figuring.

For a few extra bucks, talk to steve at CBI. This is where I'm going.

That one from CBI looks awsome. Thats exactly what ive been looking for. Does anyone have any expeirece with this unit. As long as that thing doesnt rattle around which i dont think it would, looks pretty beefy, that would solve my problem. Thanks Ravencraft.
