Starter Problems

I just had a Bosch Starter installed in my 92 4Runner after having my old one tested and found out it was bad with the click, click thing...The shop installs the new starter and tells me when I pick it up "first or second time they start it the starter keeps kicking over even with key out of ignition..They pulled the battery leads which stopped it..They tried to recreate this problem again didn't happen they said the tried at least 2 dozen times"..Then after getting it back went shopping and a few other errands no problems then probably the 4th time I started it got stuck on again not having any tools I tried to get it to stop I ended up having to drive 4 block home to get a wrench to stop it..:pop: Any help would be greatly appreciated

did they do anything else to your truck? like re wire anything?

but being a junk bosch starter, id say that was your first problem. you could have rebuilt and fixed your OE starter with 5 bucks

was already a remanned one in there

remanned are on again off again. Some will have problems, some will not. Its a crapshoot as to which ones will. Ditch the aftermarket junk and get factory used, new, or factory reman (made by Denso)

So that's it just by a Stock one from the dealer? Or is there some other possible reason for the starter getting stuck on?

www.4crawler.com has a section detailing the starter and how to get things back to proper working order. not to mention a plethora of information that will help you out.

You didn't need a new starter; about $20 in parts would have had you running like new again (starter contacts).

if you dont want to dicker around with the bosch, toyota sells a factory remand one, i have one and it works great, when this one dies i might fix it myself??? maybe just depends

Isnt it the solonoid that goes and keep the starter on?

pretty sure that was the part on our old f-150 that caused it..

Now I got to take the Bosch one back to the parts store at least I had this all done at a shop so they can't say I installed it wrong or anything..The shop also gave me a note about how and what happened after they installed the Bosch..Thanx for the Help everyone:D
