spare tire removal

Which tools do i need to remove the spare? I have the spare holder thats through the center of the bumper with a chain holding up the spare. I have what i believe to be the proper tools, but cant quite reach. do i have to put 2 of the pieces together to get it to reach all the way into the crank?

Do you have an owner's manual? If so there should be an illustration in there. If not, I believe you have to snap the 2 rods together and put the crank on the end of it. If it's at all rusted it can be a pain so you might want to wd40 or pb blaster the mechanism to make it easier (put the straw on it and spray through the holes in the wheel).

the one on my truck is a hook shapped loop that goes into the slot on the cranky part. then i use 3 extensions (although you might could do it with 2) and the lug rench thing goes on the end as a handle to turn it.

the owners manual for the truck should outline the procedure (if you still have it)

It took me an hour to get my spare down. Everything was rusted so badly, good thing I had a lift to use at work.
