Sealed Beam Projector headlights!
Hey guys, I've seen a lot of talk about custom projectors for the 2nd gen headlights and I thought some of you might be interested in this site i found. This site sells seald beam sized lights that are already fit with projectors and the kit includes the whole converstion and everything. Sorry if i put this in the wrong place. I know i would love to get some of these if i had the money to spend.

just get some H4 conversions, cheap and easy and great results

If it is in fact a "E-Code" compliant headlight - its not too expensive.
I wont go into all the tech reasons why HID "conversions" are IMHO for the show crowd only....
For alot less money - H4 E-codes... gets you great light
IMHO DOT spec HIDs have a lousy beam pattern
JDM beams point hte wrong way (they drove on the OTHER side of the road - remember)
So E-Code is the way to go.
The Sylvania ones were DOT when they came out a ways back - but they cost $800+ and had a DOT beam pattern...

I believe the projectors are DOT approved, it says that all sylvania lights are, but the H4 conversion says it is for off road use only, so that one is a no go

They might be expensive but they will blow any other option out of the water... Once you have HIDs you feel blind with anything else... If you are willing to spend the coin you will be very happy, and not blind everyone else on the road. Its not the cheapest but by far the best results.

Ive hear rumors that the DOT Sylanvaina HID 6054 beams are
a) DOT legal
b) not worth it from a "light performance for driving" presepctive
YMMV
While in fact "E-Code" lights are not DOT compliant.... many people run them
(IMHO this is a bit different than non DOT compliant HID "conversions" as those will have beam patterns that WILL annoy opposing traffic)
Now while those Projectors LOOK expensive - they really are not.
Compare the price to a proper (aka Hella) HID projector beam aftermarket light...

Exactly. I'd buy them if I just happened to have the spare change laying around. But for what, $1600...there's many other things that need to be done to my truck first. As it is, I don't drive my truck at night too much, so I'll deal with it.

There IS a way to do HID "legally"

Use the 90mm Hell HID low beam and a DOT compliant hight beam
Its not clear from the link i posted if the Bi-Xenon light is DOT compliant...
If you really wanted to - run the 90mm HID low, 90mm halogen high (DOT) and add a third HID hight (ECE) as a "off road" light.
When yer done we are talking ALOT of coin here...

You got me all excited thinking there was finally a way to upgrade my crappy headlights! You bum - these are the rectangular ones, for which there are MANY options (Hella Vision Plus for one), not the trapezoidal POC ones that come in the later model 2nd gens...

I thought you could convert the later "aero" Gen2 (89-94) front end to the base model H6054 sealed beam headlights....then you can plug and play the gamut of H6054 options...

At the minimum you need a new grille and corner lights. I haven't looked extensively at the mounts, but since the trucks had the rectangular lights, I would imagine they would bolt up - it would be silly for Toyota to incur the costs of setting up tooling and double inventory for different core supports for the 'runner and truck...
