Scuba's 500ff Install.

So I did have some trouble wiring them up, no big deal, figured it out with help from everyone.

Heres a couple pics of them installed, Im still waiting on pics from the other night of the :saw: and installing

Also, I mounted them like this because :
A. You dont see it very often
B. Keep the black and whites away
C. Keep the crackheads and thieves away
D. Its just bada$$

In picture two and three, if you really know a yota you can tell what i cut out of the grille with a dremel
Note the red box on picture two, hard to see.
But i dremeled it out and had a black spray can lying around so i sprayed it down.
And yes, they are actually mounted upside down

Im pretty proud of myself.
I will be updating later tonight when my buddy gets me the pics she took from the night we installed em.

Enjoy, and feel free to ask any questions that concern you.

You can slightly see the red square which is the area i dremeled out

Was the trouble a bad ground maybe? Only reason I say that is cause the bolt that holds the ground wire looks like it would maybe cuase a bad grounding issue since it looks like no paint was removed prior to bolting it down.

Looks good dude you should post up some pics from a distance and with them on :hillbill:
:guitar:

Yes i believe it was a grounding issue, but not cause of paint, the I-let splice thing was too small and going through the hole.
And will do

Nice work!!! Well done

space-junk 10-08-2008 06:34 PM

how far away from the grille are they mounted??? depthwise i mean...
i know that my 5.5 procomps put out a LOT of heat, and i accidentally melted my light covers when i left them on...

Good point come to think of it.

Jay351 10-08-2008 06:54 PM

The rad probibly puts out more heat then those lights...

Honestly, ill check that out, and take a pic of clearence tonight.
good point x2, never really thought of that, although, i think the grille plastic is a tad bit more robust then the little light covers.

whoa man, looks nice!

great job; very clean install!

looks much better than bolting them to the bumper like I did imo!

96redtoy 10-09-2008 01:48 PM

Nice to finally see them woking and mounted up

abecedarian 10-09-2008 02:31 PM

Sorry I wasn't available to help you other than on the phone, but what you've done looks bardarse!

How's the light pattern on the ground and how far do they light up the road ahead of you?

scuba 10-09-2008 04:14 PM

Honestly, i just got enought washers and a couple extra nuts so that the main mounting bolt was down far enough so the hood closes.

But no worries kirk, i got it done.
Ill have night pics up tonight after i get them adjusted

abecedarian 10-09-2008 05:31 PM

Got extra nuts eh?
No wonder you have to adjust them nuts before getting good pics. :D

scuba 10-09-2008 07:12 PM

1...2...And...3....were good !!

just a 22re 10-10-2008 05:47 PM

how do they look driving at night any blockage from the grill?

abecedarian 10-10-2008 05:49 PM

he's on his way to Pismo.
but they look pretty good, pattern wise, only need some mild adjustments to the aiming.

just a 22re 10-10-2008 05:58 PM

nice!! i love it infact when i do my hid swap i have to get high beems and i see this might be the way to go then

algranger 10-10-2008 06:12 PM

wow real nice

abecedarian 10-10-2008 06:37 PM

so dumb me, didn't have the camera to take some pics of the lights against the garage door...
oh wait... Sin91 had the camera at work...
:D

nah, really, it all looked pretty good.
my 4runner's lights had a bit 'whiter' light than the driving lights he has, and one of his lights was pointing a bit too far 'left' (into oncoming traffic) but I think otherwise he's got the lights working well.
