I'll help with the confusion. My 88 4Runner has 3.0L, auto, 4.10 gears, 17.2 gallon tank according to the manual. Mods are 30 x 9.5 x 15 (28's are stock???) and a 1" body lift. I am about to pull the trigger on a 5 speed swap, so I am gonna document all my miles and gallons till it's in to compare.

I have a 3.0, 90 4runner,auto w/od...on stock tires,no engine or rig mods,at all and I only get a little over 200 miles per tank...on the highway!!!
I seriously doubt,that a 3.0 with bigger and wider tires gets better gas milage than a stock rig...or everyone would be slamming bigger tires on their rigs.
