rough/missing idle with no code

my 93 3vze randomly started running like crap today after driving it for about 2 hrs south to my parents place today. it sounds like its missing or something at idle and with throttle stays pretty consistant with the missing sounds.

it also has lost power as well. i pulled spark plugs and checked wires. checked that all vaccum lines are hooked up and even checked for engine codes and came up with nothing. one guy on here said in a post that his O2 sensor was grounding on the exhaust and i checked that too but no improvement. any suggestions or input greatly appreciated.

thanks

Distributor cap? Rotor button?

Did you do a diagnostic test? Pull spark plugs while engine is running to see which one has no change to the way the engine runs. Find that one then trouble shoot the cylinder. Spark plugs do "go bad" so be sharp.

Cylinder miss fire could be:

1. Faulty or incorrectly gapped spark plug
2. Faulty spark plug wire
3. Faulty distributor cap and or rotor button
4. Faulty Coil
5. Inccorect valve adjustment
6. Sticky or stuck open/closed valves.
7. Head gasket failure
8. Faulty fuel injector
9. Intake manifold gasket failure.

well double checked the spark plug wires once again. i pulled #5 and there was no change in the way it was running so i figured thatw was it. i pulled the spark plug and looked a little brown but nothin severe and figured i would throw a new spark plug in it to see what would happen. started truck up still same issue than i was just standing theree shaking my head when i noticed a little flash!

low and behold the #5 spark plug wire was resting on egr valve pipe and had melted insulation and was grounding! haha now its off to auto store for all new wires. figured id change plugs while im in the area. thanks for the trouble shooting help
