reverse light problems
 

when i put it in reverse sometimes they don't come on, and sometimes they flicker, i checked the fuses, but couldn't find the the it, but i somehow don't thinks that's it,
guys got any ideas?

do the tail lights share the same fuse for the reverse lights?
that might be why i didn't see it

Check the electrical connection on the drivers side of the transmission.
ITs a small 2 prong switch. Mine was put on wrong and was filthy. Cleaned it and hooked it up, worked perfect ;)

so i checked under the truck this morning, but i couldnt find what your talking about, the only connectors i found were the ones leading to my exhaust censers

Yea probably would not be a fuse. They tend to blow. Sounds like a loose connection.
He has a 91, you a 95.. so different generation. Try looking in your manual, follow the electrical trail. Its a short, loose wire. Unless you have tinkered with the inside, its probably not part of the wire that runs through your truck..under/around panels as those are left alone so you can pretty much through logic assume the highest probability is at the START or END of the trail. So, in the engine, around the Fuse box..maybe the heat has affected it or at the back.

It could also possibly be the reverse sensor, I have no idea where it is.but its what tells the circuit to send power to your reverse lights when you put it in reverse.

Also, check bulb connections. Thats a bumpy ride back there, maybe after 15years its loose?

Good luck. These are the most irritating problems. A multimeter, beer and a lot of patience is usually required.

i did install LEDs in my dash, you think i might have knocked something loose.

In your dash, what did you wire it into? If you just hopped off of the lighting for your dash I doubt it. If you dash affected your reverse, you would see the same irregular issue in those lights as it would affect the whole circuit..

Again, im looking from a highest probability logic perspective. Wiring gets old, cracks..shorts out. I think its probably a connection somewhere is old. You got a wiring schematic for your truck? If not, try to find one.

My mistake. Its on the passenger side of the transmission :) The only plug...

im also having problems with reverse lights not coming on. so i looked on the trans and found that there is no wire coming from the tranny (guess the previous owner didnt put it back). my question is where would that wire run (if it was there) to, the engine bay or in the cab?

Sounds like a grounding issue to me. Make sure you check the bulbs like GVOLCRunner said and replace them if necessary. good luck!

Checked the grounds and also changed out tails (bulbs and all) but the problem is that the sensor on the trans isnt connected to nething... I even looked at the shop manual to see where the hell it runs (ie cab or engine bay) still no clue...

Hmmm that's weird. Hopefully someone else can chime in and give you some help because you got me. :think:
