I'm not trying to contradict what you've already ascertained, but...
if the differential is 'warm' and suddenly the housing is 'cooled', wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that the cooled housing (caused by immersion in water) would cool the air within the housing and thus cause the breather to draw in air... and if the housing and breather were underwater, water would be drawn in?

corrrect...If he dont have a breather hose on there its probably full of water...

Well as far as the 4x4's being different I can attest that mine has little capped stubs for vents....the truck in the signature line. The one in the back was completely covered in road grime but freed up when I hit it with the wire brush; guess I need to extend my diff breathers.

and if the diff and the water had temperatures that were close to the same, then it wouldn't suck water into the diff.....

Do you enter water that is 200 plus degrees?

lmao, I was waiting for someone to comment on that.

Rotory engine swap!

haha, JK

the tach lets you adjust the shift light point without the truck running; just turn the dial and the needle moves to the RPM you want the shift light come on; I keep it set at about 4.5k.

my limiter is about 6,250rpm on my 91 22re manual 4x4

yeah thats what i though i have the same tach but the silver one and i have to push a button for it to go into the shift set lol cause i was going to say man my god lol an dyes mine is set at i think 4800 not sure its raining out and i just put half doors on her so i have to wait fo rit to stop raining so i can drive her and see what shes set at! lol
